Our History:
Team 3161, the Tronic Titans has a long history in FIRST even before their successful rookie season. The successful start of this team could not be done without the committed collaboration of Teachers, Students, Alumni, and the FIRST community.

In 2007, two of the students Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School (HT) became involved in
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams at schools in the area, Team 1334 and Team 843. Both students emerged from the season enthused about the FIRST program and felt that the best way to get more people involved was to start a team at HT, as HT was in a different school board which had no FRC teams at the time.

The students tried their best to start the team for the 2008 season, but failed to get the momentum necessary. As a result, they decided to get interested teachers and students involved in other teams in the area until it was possible to start a team at HT. To aid in the process, Team 1334 graciously opened their doors for anyone interested to join their team. Following the 2008 season, the students at HT once again tried to get the momentum to start a season. However, due to the students involved graduating that year, it was decided that it would be best to take a full year to build the momentum necessary to start the team.

In 2009, HT continued to collaborate with Team 1334, with a number of students and teachers actively participating on the team. HT brought additional students and key administrators for the school and school board to tournaments, and interest started to exponentially increase within the school community. In addition to this, HT Team 1334 members demoed their robot at several key HT school meetings, and events (
Community Outreach). Due to this and other support, HT finally had the support necessary to launch a self-sustaining FRC program.

The Tronic Titans had their first official season in the
FIRST Robotics Competition in 2010, under the mentoring of Team 1334. They gained students from all grades, and brought in community members and alumni in addition to teachers for mentors. It was a strong season, winning the Rookie All Star Award in the competitive Waterloo Regional and competing head to head with the best teams in the world at the Championships in Atlanta.

For the coming 2011 season, the Tronic Titans are moving forward and are hoping to be a major contender in FRC. They are increasing their activity within the school and the greater community. They have actively demoed their robot in their community and are hosting a
FIRST Lego League Tournament. They are also opening up the team so that people from other schools in the area can join. The future looks bright for this young but enthusiastic team.
