FIRST Robotics Competition
FRC is a FIRST program, (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) which is an annual competition beginning in mid January, where 3300+ teams of students from around the world (Canada, United States, Israel, Mexico, Australia...), are given 6 weeks to design, build and program a robot to perform a specific task.

Regional events are held all around the world in March, followed by the world championship for all qualifying teams in mid-April. This year, over 350 FRC teams attended the FIRST Championship. FIRST inspires young people to be science and technology leaders. It engages them in programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, inspires innovation, and fosters well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, teamwork and leadership.

“The varsity sport for the mind,” FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world engineering” as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. "

FIRST Lego League
"Introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society."
